Description

The Materials Department invites applications for temporary research positions in the area of Materials Science and Engineering. Appointments in the Project Scientist Series will be for one year with the possibility of limited reappointments on an annual basis in accordance with applicable personnel policies and availability of funding. Positions may range from part-time to 100%.

Appointees to the Project Scientist Series are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community. Project Scientists may participate in University and/or public service depending upon funding source and the duties of the position.

The initial review date is March 16, 2020; however, the screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. Applications will be kept active for consideration within the department until October 31, 2020. The number of positions varies depending on the needs of the department. Applicants must resubmit a new application each year beginning November 1 to retain eligibility.

Basic Qualifications:
Appointees must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation, at the time of application.

Additional Qualifications: PhD must be conferred by appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications: Include an outstanding specialized research record or demonstrated research in the areas of Materials Science and Engineering, which includes the preferred research areas of electronic and photonics materials, inorganic materials, macromolecular and biomolecular materials, and structural materials.
