£30942 to £40322 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for a 12 months fixed term Research Fellow post situated in the Engineering Faculty, the University of Nottingham. The contract can be extended depending on performance. 

This post will be part of the consortium for a project consisting of leading academic and industrial partners across Europe. The project offers a pioneering research in reduced-order modelling of flow fields based on techniques on image and signal processing and their application to the development of the next generation propulsion system.

The researcher will focus on reduced-order modelling of fluid flow around propellers based on image processing techniques to support the design of aerodynamic configurations, perform large-scale numerical simulations using high-performance computing facilities and engage with an ambitious and active research group. 

Candidates must have an understanding, and preferably direct experience, of one or more of the following areas:

·        fluid mechanics

·        computational physics

·        applied mathematics

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent in an appropriate field. They should have significant knowledge in CFD methods, reduced-order modelling, programming, and writing papers in top journals. They should be confident, have excellent R&D and communication skills and the ability to work in a team. 

This role is available on a fixed term basis for 1 year. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
