Singapore

Research Fellow (Fabrication and Characterization of RRAM)

Job no: 494434

Work type: Contract, full-time

Location: Singapore

Categories: PhD, Engineering Product Development, Others

Resistive switching memory (RRAM) has gained increasing popularity for its use as the potential next generation data storage technology not just for hard disk storage but also for synaptic weight storage in hardware implementation of neural networks (neuromorphic systems). Its use in neuromorphics requires that it be operated at extremely low power (fJ/bit) and this requires in-depth fabrication and electrical (noise spectroscopy, endurance and retention tests) / physical characterization of the RRAM metal-insulator-metal (MIM) stack (using TEM and conductive AFM) so as to understand the fundamental physics governing the switching mechanism and enable realization of ultra-low power RRAM through redesign and fabrication of an improvised material stack.

We intend to recruit a post-doctoral fellow with expertise in nanoelectronic device fabrication, electrical characterization, reliability testing and physical analysis (TEM, conductive AFM, EELS/EDX analysis etc.) with a solid background in microelectronics and solid state physics. Some knowledge and experience with modeling and simulations of nanoelectronic devices would be a value-add. The candidate should have obtained PhD from a reputed institution and should have a strong publication track record as well. Competitive pay package will be provided depending on the skill sets of the applicant. The position is initially open for one year and can be extended further for two more years, subject to satisfactory performance.

Singapore University of Technology and Design was established in collaboration with MIT with a focus on Design, through an integrated multidisciplinary curriculum and multidisciplinary research. SUTD is an equal opportunity employer that actively seeks diversity in the workforce.
