This vacancy is part of the SCENT Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (ITN), European Joint Doctorate, funded by the H2020-MSCA-ITN-2018-812391 grant. The SCENT consortium is comprised of The University of Nottingham (UK), the University of Zielona Gora (PL) and University of Twente (NL). Successful candidates will receive PhD Level Training within a joint doctorate programme from these three universities and a viable pathway to a PhD award. The project is supported by the IEEE EMC Society TC7, Dutch EMC-ESD association and 12 industrial partners

Job description

Experimental characterization, with focus on behavioral/macro parameters for sub-grids, and implement statistical evaluation methods in (long-term) monitoring instrumentation with a focus on the micro grids and the transport sector

Objectives: To fully evaluate experimentally the statistical variations and degree of coherence of harmonics and conducted emissions from loads and sources within small distribution systems such as micro grids and vehicle power systems using in-house laboratory demonstrators

The post is full-time and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of up-to 19.6 months, depending on successful applicant start-date..

Requirements

Candidates will also be required to meet the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher eligibility criteria: http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/ref/h2020/wp/2016_2017/main/h2020-wp1617-msca_en.pdf. In particular, at the time of appointment candidates must have had less than four years full-time equivalent research experience and must not have already obtained a PhD. Additionally, they must not have resided in the (host country) UK for more than 12 months in the three years immediately before the appointment.

YOUR PROFILE

We are seeking highly motivated persons with an excellent background and a MSc. degree in electrical engineering.

You enjoy communicating your work verbally and in writing. You enjoy working as part of a team, and yet are capable of working independently. You are curiosity-driven, but you are committed to deliver by hard deadlines too. Your involvement in the team inspires progress and you have clear scientific communication skills. We prefer applicants with strong English language proficiency.
