Research Associate in Wearable Electronics for Personal Healthcare Systems

Job Summary

Applicants are invited to apply for a new position in the Wearable Technologies Lab at a Research Associate level to work in a variety of projects. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with a strong experience and proven track record in the following research areas:

• Biomedical signal processing
• Real-time algorithms development
• Low power electronics for wearable sensing
• Data analytics
• Machine Learning
• Embedded systems

Duties and Responsibilities

As well as being able to demonstrate skills and experience in one or more of the above areas, candidates should have the ability to interact with a wide range of people, should have the ability to develop and apply new concepts and excellent verbal communication skills. 

Successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research in the area of wearable technologies and publicise results in conference and journal papers.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will require several of the following skills:

• Algorithm development and implementation 
• Ability to prototype in Matlab, Python, C/C++
• Software development for physical systems
• Understanding of signal processing methods applied to physiological signals
• Expertise in using numerical software such as Matlab and Octave
• Analytical reasoning
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Knowledge of low-power hardware design techniques

Any additional experience in sensor design, system integration, or clinical trial management will be highly desirable.

Note that we are not looking for integrated circuit designers.

The duration of the contract will depend on the individual's skills.

Further Information

For a Research Associate level position, the candidate must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in related disciplines together with a strong publication record.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £34,397 to £37,486 per annum.
