Research Associate in Synthetic Organic Chemistry

University of Cambridge

United Kingdom

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work on a specific project under the supervision of Dr Robert Phipps. This project will be aimed at developing novel regioselective and enantioselective C-H bond functionalisation reactions using free radicals, elaborating on recently published work (Science, 2018, 360, 419). Radicals will be generated primarily using photoredox catalysts and the project will explore the potential for new methodology development using this approach, merged with asymmetric catalysis.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry. Experience in modern synthetic techniques in a leading environment is essential, particularly in the development of new methodology. A strong track record in catalysis during the PhD is essential. There may be some flexibility in the start date for an outstanding applicant.
