Job summary

We are looking for aspiring researchers who are interested in pursuing a career in the area of novel storage technology. This particular project (http://www.oligoarchive.eu) revolves around DNA storage, i.e., how to store arbitrary information in synthetic DNA. The goal hence is to develop DNA encodings or to define how to map data to DNA while still enabling error free recovery. The background of successful candidates must overlap significantly with the following areas:

  • Data management
  • Data analytics
  • DNA storage (basic knowledge of DNA is assumed)
  • Error detection and correction codes.

Duties and responsibilities

    • Performing research on DNA storage
    • Working with Ph.D. students, help directing their research and help in disseminating results
    • Supporting teaching efforts
    • Supporting the acquisition of new research and industrial projects

Essential requirements

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and prioritise work to meet deadlines. Proficiency in C/C++ and Python is required and must be demonstrated. Please note that only candidates with publications in the relevant areas are considered - others need not apply.

 *Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.
