Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the EEE Department, Imperial College London. This post is to recruit a post-doctoral research associate for ‘Intelligent Transmission and Processing Lab (ITP Lab)’ directed by Professor Geoffrey Ye Li, which focus on exploiting machine learning for signal processing and wireless communications. The research topics to be carried out are very flexible, varying from intelligent signal processing in physical layer communications, such as massive MIMO, coding, signal detection and channel estimation, end-to-end communications, intelligent resource allocation, to federated learning and its applications in wireless communications.
Duties and responsibility include:
• To take initiatives in the planning of research
• To direct the work of small research teams
• To ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times
• To maintain accurate and complete records of all findings
• To write reports for submission to research sponsors
• To present findings to colleagues and at conferences
• To submit publications to refereed journals
• To provide guidance to staff and students
Essential requirements include:
Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in the general area of (a) Machine Learning, (b) Statistical Signal Processing, (c) Wireless Communications, (d) Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline or equivalent research or industrial experience
Practical experience within a research environment and / or publication in relevant and refereed journals
Practical experience in a broad range of techniques, including:
• Optimisation and signal processing systems.
• Wireless systems
• Simulation programming
*Candidates who have not yet been awarded their PhD will initially be appointed at the Research Assistant level within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.
