The Opportunity

Join UNSW Built Environment ( one of the largest built environment faculties in Australia) and have an impact on research and education relevant to the design, delivery and management of the 21st century city and the elements.

As a Research Associate, you will work closely with the Inaugural Judith Neilson Chair in Architecture, Professor David Sanderson, to develop research, build partnerships and produce publications in Australia and abroad concerning disaster risk reduction, disaster recovery, urban vulnerability, humanitarian action and resilience.

This job would suit an ambitious individual looking to establish or consolidate their academic career in one or more of the above areas.

  • Salary: $95,449 - $102, 091 + 9.5% superannuation & Annual Leave loading ( Pro-rata) 
  • 12 Month fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend 
  • Part-time- 21hr/per week 
  • Location: Kensington Campus – Sydney, Australia

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Identify, develop, win and undertake research relating to urban vulnerability, post-disaster recovery, disaster risk reduction and/or resilience
  • Author/co-author high quality publishable research, papers and publications
  • Develop projects and relationships with academic and non-academic partners, such as NGOs, working across disciplines
  • Develop and undertake teaching where required and limited academic supervision
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others
