Our Profile

The Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) is an international research and qualification service provider in the field of fiber-based high-performance materials and their manufacturing technologies. 
Our interdisciplinary research fields include application-oriented research and development with industrial partners as well as basic research.
One focus of our research is the development of required materials, processes and products for smart textiles. The integration of electronic components is a major challenge in making Smart Textiles sustainable and economical. To date, there are no available and stable production processes that make it possible to use smart textiles for typical applications such as medical technology, automotive, protective clothing or sports. In particular, the lack of production technology, one of the key technologies, makes implementation of products difficult or impossible. To actively shape the future of smart textiles internationally, together with our Korean partners KITECH and SKKU, we have set up the Smart Textronics Center (www .stc aachen.com). Together, international and interdisciplinary we explore future overall concepts for the implementation of smart textiles. Only the development of suitable materials as well as process, production technologies and business models will bring long-term market success. In joint national and international research projects we develop sustainable and marketable solutions with partners of communication and electronic technologies as well as potential users.


Your Profile

- You want to make your own contribution to the topic of smart textiles from the vision to implementation. They are open to new technologies and enthusiastically embrace interdisciplinary challenges. They like to think in applications and can structure and implement the necessary solution. 
- You have completed your university studies (Master or equivalent) with great success. You have preferably studied engineering with a focus on electrical engineering, computer science or mechanical engineering with basic knowledge in electrical engineering and / or programming. 
- You may experience in simple setups of sensor systems from hardware to software. Ideally you have already worked with flexible electronics.
- You have a strong initiative, a systematic way of working and a high degree of teamwork. 
- You have very good knowledge of German and English.


Your Tasks

- For example, within the framework of the Smart Textronic Center, you can work on research and development projects within our international cooperation. You will also acquire further research partners for the center, conduct workshops in companies and contribute to the interdisciplinary tasks of the team. 
- You represent your research field or the ITA in presentations and lectures at conferences, symposia and in education and training. 
- They use the existing intensive contacts to associations, research institutions and industry partners and maintain these networks or expand them further. 
- They acquire third-party funded research projects in the field of Smart Textiles as a continuation of this topic at the ITA.
- You support the Corporate Development department of the ITA in matters of organizational development and communication.

Our Range

Recruitment is in the employment relationship. 
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and limited to initially 1.5 years. A further employment on altogether 5 years is aimed at. 
This is a full time position. On request, a part-time employment can be made possible. 
There is a doctoral option. 
The position is rated with EG 13 TV-L.
