Work­ing field:

Col­lab­or­a­tion in research and teach­ing at the Chair of Soil Mech­an­ics and Geo­tech­nical Engin­eer­ing.
Par­tic­u­lar tasks are:
  • Sci­entific plan­ning, mon­it­or­ing and ana­lysis of soil mech­an­ical labor­at­ory tests.
  • Devel­op­ment of soil mech­an­ical mod­els for describ­ing the flow beha­vior of dynam­ic­ally excited sandy soils.
  • Imple­ment­a­tion of soil mech­an­ical con­stitutive mod­els in finite ele­ment pro­grams and exe­cu­tion of numer­ical sim­u­la­tions.
  • Doc­u­ment­a­tion of the research, pre­par­a­tion of pro­ject reports, present­a­tion and pub­lic­a­tion of the research res­ults in sci­entific journ­als and con­fer­ence pro­ceed­ings.
  • Plan­ning, pre­par­a­tion and con­duc­tion of courses and exam­in­a­tions in the Bach­elor's and Mas­ter's pro­grams in Civil Engin­eer­ing.
  • Super­vi­sion of Bach­elor's and Mas­ter's theses.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Civil Engin­eer­ing
  • Pro­found know­ledge in the field of soil mech­an­ics, engin­eer­ing mech­an­ics, and numer­ical meth­ods for ini­tial and bound­ary value prob­lems, par­tic­u­larly the finite ele­ment method (FEM) as well as pro­gram­ming skills.
  • Excel­lent ger­man and eng­lish lan­guage skills, both writ­ten and spoken.
  • Writ­ing sci­entific pub­lic­a­tions and present­ing the res­ults of the research on national and inter­na­tional con­fer­ences.
  • Know­ledge in the field of con­stitutive the­ory and mater­ial mod­el­ing, imple­ment­a­tion of con­stitutive mod­els, Lag­rangian, Eulerian and ALE (Arbit­rary Lag­rangian-Eulerian) for­mu­la­tions, pro­gram­ming skills in For­tran and exper­i­mental soil mech­an­ics.
  • The will­ing­ness to inde­pend­ently acquire miss­ing know­ledge is expec­ted.
