The Art University Linz - located in the center of Linz - is a rather small university, which is characterized by its good working atmosphere and its personal atmosphere. It stands for diversity and openness combined with a high sense of social responsibility. The reconciliation of family and work or study is an important concern of the university.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for the earliest possible service at the rate of 30 hours / week a * n research assistant * in the laboratory for Creative Robotics .

The employment relationship is limited to two years. The Art University Linz pays according to. § 49 KV for university assistants a monthly minimum wage of € 2,148.30 gross - 14 times a year. An overpayment with appropriate qualification is possible.

The research department Creative Robotics of the Linz University of Arts researches robots as universal interfaces between the digital world and our physical environment. In this interdisciplinary, artistic-scientific environment, a 300m² robot laboratory in the tobacco factory was built in collaboration with the Grand Garage innovation workshop. Innovative research projects are being created in this creative environment, such as the construction of a large-scale structure using additive methods and cooperation projects with the Fashion & Technology department. It is expressly desired to use the research results as part of a PhD thesis.


Field of Activity

  • Participation in research projects, with a focus on additive manufacturing and the manipulation of textile materials by robots.
  • Acquisition, implementation and support of research and third-party funded projects, both in a technological / industrial and artistic-scientific context
  • Knowledge transfer and placement in the university as well as non-university environment


Required Qualifications

  • Completed artistic and / or technical studies
  • Experience in dealing with industrial robots
  • Experience in the field of large-format, additive on-site production and / or textile materials
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Advanced CAD and / or programming skills
  • Self-employment and initiative
  • Gender and diversity competence


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching and knowledge transfer
  • Experience in the application and execution of research projects
  • Knowledge in the field of visual programming (such as McNeel Grasshopper, VVVV, Autodesk Dynamo)
