Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (Ref: 500164) (to commence as soon as possible for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biochemistry/Chemistry/Materials Science or have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the synthesis and characterisation of novel nanomaterials (Microscopy, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, XRD, DLS etc.), and their application in biomedical research, e.g. studies on microbial biofilms. Technical experience in microbiology, molecular biology or cell biology is preferable.  They should also be self-motivated, organized and able to work independently as well as in a team.

The appointee will be engaged in a multitude of research projects that involve synthesizing and characterizing novel nanomaterials and testing their biological properties. He/She is also expected to contribute to literature search, data analysis and manuscript writing in collaboration with the doctoral students of our team. He/She will also have the unique opportunity to engage in multidisciplinary high impact projects involving materials, dentistry and microbiology. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in materials-related research and exceptional candidates who have an interest in pursuing further education with our group following satisfactory completion of the research assistant appointment.
