Research Assistant in Biochemistry

University of Cambridge

United Kingdom

A position for a research assistant is available in the group of Professor Gerard Evan, University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry, Cambridge (http://www.bioc.cam.ac.uk/uto/evan).

Our work indicates that deregulated expression of the Myc protein, a highly pleiotropic "master" switch, modulates a wide variety of mechanistically diverse processes involved in tissue regeneration and tumourigenesis. We have established models in which expression and/or activity of Myc can be rapidly and reversibly switched and we now seek two research assistants to assist these studies. One, or both, of these posts will also provide a histology service (tissue dissection, embedding, sectioning and staining) for the group.

Applicants should have a BSc or equivalent. A background in tumour biology and previous experience in molecular and cellular biology and pre-clinical cancer models is desirable. Necessary training will be provided.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
