We research and develop product and production innovations that enable the production of electrified mobility solutions and their individual components in a cost-effective and sustainable manner, and make PEM a research institution that attracts, excites and excellently trains outstanding new blood. 

Together with our partners we develop solutions for the mobility of the future from the first idea to the industrial application. 
Our motto "PEM - Science for e-mobility production" unites ten research groups in four areas. In it, the production processes of the electric vehicle and its components are continuously developed.

In the field of Battery Production, you participate in various innovative research and development projects in the field of lithium ion battery production technology. You work closely with OEMs, automotive suppliers, battery manufacturers, machine and plant manufacturers and many other industrial partners, as well as other research institutes in exciting topics in which you take after a short time and project leading positions.

At our institute, we offer a flat hierarchy that leaves room for your own ideas and processes. Regular joint recreational activities and team events such as laser tagging, sailing trips or summer festivals offer the opportunity to get to know colleagues privately as well. RWTH's broad sports program is used by many of our colleagues to keep themselves fit while working. You will receive both a service laptop and a service cell phone to make your daily work easier and more flexible.

Your Profile

- Technically oriented university degree (Master or equivalent) with above-average success; eg in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering or similar 
- High degree of independence, commitment, initiative and resilience 
- Very good analytical and conceptual skills and a structured way of working 
- Strong team orientation and strong communication skills 
- Proficient knowledge of German and English language

Your Tasks

- Project management of or cooperation in publicly funded research projects in the field of production of lithium-ion batteries at the level of the battery cell as well as the battery system, eg in the areas of development of novel production processes, recycling, etc. 
- Acquisition, planning, management and implementation from different projects with industrial partners in the field of production of lithium-ion batteries, eg factory and production planning, technology analyzes, make-or-buy decisions, battery testing, etc. 
- Development of ideas and solutions for the future production of lithium -ion batteries Ion batteries 
- Acquisition of university continuing education and teaching activities 
- Communication with customers, partners and suppliers


Our Range

Recruitment is in the employment relationship. 
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and initially limited to 2 years. An extension of at least one year is desired. 
This is a full time position. 
There is a doctoral option. 
The position is rated with EG 13 TV-L.
