Research Assistant I in the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 503447) (to commence on May 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter for 6 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Architecture or related design-based discipline. They should be proficient in using computational design and fabrication/prototyping and have experience in using Rhino and Grasshopper. Preference will be given to those with knowledge of Kangaroo, Karamba, and Python. Fluency in English is required and proficiency in Mandarin/Cantonese would be advantageous.

The appointee will work closely with Dr. Kristof Crolla and his students for the project “Bending-active bamboo shell structures: methods and guidelines for best architectural design practice” and other teaching and research projects. He/She will perform academic and research-based duties, including computational model-development, prototyping and prototype construction coordination, and assist in teaching courses and studios related to the topic.
