The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W 3) for Multi-Scale Characterization of Materialsystems
in the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering.
Fulltime position, Start-date: At the earliest possible date.

This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.

The professorship will also be financially supported by the Eva-Mayr-Stihl-Foundation for the promotion of science and research in the above-mentioned fields for the next 10 years.

We are looking for a candidate with outstanding competence in research and teaching in the field of material characterization in the micro- and nanoscale. Profound skills in the development of x-ray detectors, design and technology of tomography, and related applications are expected. Expertise in the field of compound semiconductor for detection systems is highly appreciated. Besides being internationally well established, the candidate must have experience in the acquisition of third-party funded research projects and cooperation with industry partners and must be willing to participate in coordinated research projects.

Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.

  • Record of projects acquired; the respective funding amount attributed to the own group/ own person should be apparent, respectively
