Professorship for Building in Inventory and Preservation

In the Department of Architecture ( www. Arch. Ethz. Ch) of ETH Zurich is to fill the above position. The professorship is assigned to the Institute of Historic Monuments and Building Research (IDB).

The new professor teaches the students in the bachelor's and master's study practical basics, methodical knowledge and subject-specific knowledge in the field of architectural design in the context of the existence and preservation of monuments. As a teaching tool, the design requires interest and willingness to integrate the knowledge of other disciplines. Particular emphasis is placed on cooperation with the Chair of Building Research and Construction History.

The professorship contributes to the reorientation of the research and teaching of one's own subject. Research topics can be found in the field of applied monument preservation and interdisciplinary with building research, historical building construction, engineering, humanities and social sciences and material development.

The new professor teaches primarily in lectures, studios and seminar trips. He or she supervises the further work of students and doctoral students, leads a group of employees and is involved beyond the own subject for the development of the department. In the Department of Architecture, classes in the Bachelor's degree program are usually held in German and in the Master's degree program in German or English.

Successful applicants are excellent architects and possess a substantial oeuvre in the field of existing building. The candidate represents a theoretical position within the discipline of monument preservation. He or she should be an internationally visible personality and have a network and experience in the preservation of monuments. Other qualifications include a university degree and international academic teaching experience. In addition to profound technical competence, leadership skills are required.
