We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and highly motivated individual to the role of Professor in the discipline of Management and Public Administration.

About the Role

The appointee will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate courses across the management and public administration curriculum and will be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of online courses. The incumbent will contribute to the school’s postgraduate/ masters, PhD programmes, supervise research students, and will be expected to undertake research in his/her area of expertise, and publish the findings in reputable  journals. The appointee will also be expected to successfully attract research grants (from internal & external sources) in the thematic area of research and support the University’s mission and goals as set out in the latest University’s Strategic Plan. The appointee will also assist with other tasks assigned by the Head of School.


The incumbent will also lead the design and development of the curriculum; teaching undergraduate and postgraduate, Masters/ PhD courses both on-campus and through the flexible modes of delivery; participate and contribute to the research and publications profile of the school, oversee the accreditation of existing programmes by international accreditation agencies, contribute to the administrative functions of the school and to the development of new courses and programmes. The incumbent should have a demonstrated international academic excellence, and outstanding contribution to teaching, research, and scholarship.


The Appointee shall mainly be responsible for the following;

  • provide academic leadership and foster excellence in research, teaching and scholarly activities in the discipline;
  • assume the role of substantive Head of School/Discipline and participate in School and University services;
  • develop and administer programmes in the discipline;
  • undertake course planning, development, coordination and delivery (including online and face to face teaching);
  • academic counselling and consultation with students;
  • supervise research students to the successful completion of postgraduate programmes; and
  • conduct and publish individual and/or collaborative research.


The Person We Seek

To be considered for Professor position, applicants must have;

  • A PhD in Commerce and /or Management or related field, and be a leading, international authority in this area;
  • Extensive teaching experience in at least two of the following areas: General management, Marketing and International Business, Human Resource Management and Employment Relations;
  • A distinguished record of research and publication in relevant fields;
  • A successful record in Masters and PhD level thesis supervision;
  • Substantial teaching experience and a strong research background with publications in high impact journals in the areas of management;
  • Mentor and develop senior and junior academic staff;
  • Ability to develop the curriculum in both traditional and new areas of management and public administration especially at post graduate level;
  • Ability to work within a collegial environment and effectively represent the Discipline within the University and external stakeholders.
  • made a sustained and excellent contribution at international level to academic research and leadership within the relevant discipline;
  • demonstrated sustained distinction in your interdisciplinary contributions;
  • championed academic standards and freedom;
  • demonstrated excellent communication skills, and the ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff;
  • an outstanding track record in research, with outcomes of high quality and impact (including peer-reviewed publications, e.g. journal articles, book chapters, monographs), evidence of attracting external funding and/or of principal investigation in international research projects; and
  • proven experience in successfully recruiting and supervising research students to completion;


Professor should also:


-       Demonstrate excellence in teaching in a multicultural environment;

-       Excellent written and oral communication skills;

-       Experienced with distance and flexible learning.

The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range: FJ $153,416 to $165,855 per annum.

The University may offer an attractive market loading to exceptional candidates.
