The laboratories of Dr. Zhibin Guan (https://www.chem.uci.edu/~zguan/) and Dr. Allon Hochbaum (http://hochbaumlab.eng.uci.edu) are seeking highly qualified applicants for two post-doctoral scholar positions in bioinspired small molecule and peptide self-assembly as part of the newly NSF-funded UCI Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC, https://sites.uci.edu/mrsec/). Applicants selected for these positions will be expected to interface across a multi-PI effort for the design, synthesis, and characterization of redox-fueled self-assembly of dynamic supramolecular systems as part of the Bioinspired Active Materials interdisciplinary research group. These interactions will span collaborations in advanced in situ transmission electron microscopy, machine learning guided materials design, and electronic, electrochemical, and spectroscopic characterization of dynamic materials properties.
Consideration of applicants will begin immediately, and the positions will remain open until filled.
Applicant Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or fields related to organic and/or biological materials chemistry. Deep knowledge and experience in supramolecular chemistry, materials chemistry, chemical synthesis of small molecules and/or peptides, and their corresponding characterization techniques are requirements.
