The pattern recognition group (PRG) at the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Bern researches algorithms in pattern recognition, machine learning, and data mining.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our group from February 1, 2023 (or earlier) to support our research in structural pattern recognition. The focus of the present project is twofold. First, we research encodings of matching information in a novel data structure to formalize the stable cores of specific classes, and second, we research novel hierarchical graph representations in conjunction with linear time graph embedding.

Tasks
 
Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Definition and execution of your own research project that seamlessly integrates with the current research project of two PhD students (in the area of graph based pattern recognition)
  • Supporting the research activities of two PhD students in the area of graph based pattern recognition.
  • Writing of scientific publications
Requirements
 
We expect a PhD degree in the field of pattern recognition or machine learning with a strong focus on structural data. That is we prefer applicants who have already worked with graphs during their PhD study.
