About This Opportunity

The School of Chemical Engineering is seeking a full-time, highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow to participate in a project that is aimed to lower the cost of the raw materials required for lithium ion batteries through innovative primary and secondary production routes. The project is sponsored by Queensland-based Pure Battery Technologies and Intdesign as well as Cronimet (Germany). The research project will be carried out at the University of Queensland in the Hydrometallurgy Research Group (Long Pocket) and Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (St Lucia).

The role will participate in innovative research developments, conduct original research within the general scope of the project, provide research input to other staff and research students where relevant and participate/lead interactions with the project investigators.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate holds a PhD in the areas Metallurgical, Chemical or Materials Engineering or related discipline. We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated expert knowledge and research experience in;

  • hydrometallurgy or lithium ion battery synthesis and performance testing or advanced materials characterisation is desired. Management of high-end technology-based projects and associated research output.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in conducting research projects.
  • Publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals/conferences.

What We Can Offer

There are currently up to 3 full-time fixed term positions available at either Academic Level A or B depending on qualifications and experience for 1.5 years-2 years in duration. 

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range

Level A- $83,627.77-$92,782.26 plus super of up to 17%.

Level B-$97,590.97-$115,888.96 plus super of up to 17%.
