The Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation - within the School of Chemical Engineering

The Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation is an interdisciplinary research centre with a strong techno-economic focus on the viability of industry transitions, delivered through collaboration with other UQ faculties and leading research and industry partners internationally. The Centre’s mission is to stimulate engineering innovation towards more sustainable production and utilisation of materials and energy, with priority given to changes that can make a substantial contribution to global environmental and social sustainability challenges.

The positions are financially supported by the Transport Academic Partnership (TAP) program under the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), the UQ Solar program, and the Tritium E-Mobility endowment, which was created through a generous donation from the Trevor and Judith St Baker Family Foundation, in association with the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund – a portfolio of clean-tech, energy related start-ups showcasing breakthrough technologies in the fields of energy, transport, and healthcare.

The positions are also affiliated with Tritium, an innovative Brisbane-based company within the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund portfolio that provides world-leading fast charging systems designed to support the global transition to e-mobility for clean, healthy and convenient cities. The Tritium Postdoctoral Research Fellows in E-Mobility will also engage closely with the management and research teams at Tritium.

About This Opportunity

The UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering innovation are seeking two Tritium Postdoctoral Research Fellows in E-Mobility who will lead research activities directed toward advancing the performance, economics and uptake of E-Mobility globally, with a particular focus on the electrification of electric heavy vehicles, including both buses and trucks. This research will inform public policy, investment decisions, technology innovation, public health studies and community behaviour in support of the transition to sustainable, low-emission, electric-powered transportation.

The Tritium Postdoctoral Research Fellows in E-Mobility may also contribute to teaching and learning outcomes at the University through course coordination and lecturing, as well as supervision of PhD students.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in these positions you will have a PhD in Engineering, Economics, or other relevant discipline combined with demonstrated research, industry or policy experience in the areas relevant to E- Mobility, with a particular focus on electric heavy vehicles (buses, trucks, etc.) being desirable.

You should have experience in establishing effective relationships in order to build and promote the E-Mobility agenda at a University and with wider industry, government and professional bodies.

What We Can Offer

These are full-time, fixed term positions for 2 years at Academic level A or B.

The full-time equivalent base salary for Level A will be in the range $83,627 - $92,782, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $100,462 - $108,555.

The full-time equivalent base salary for Level B will be in the range $97,590 - $115,888, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $114,181 - $135,590.
