About the Role

Applications are invited for a full time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join a team working on the development of an electrostatic inkjet-printing concept originally invented by staff in the School of Engineering and Materials Science. This research project is funded by EPSRC and will be undertaken within a strong Industrial Consortium focused on developing high efficiency printed electronics and piezoelectric devices.

About You

Applications should have a PhD (or be close to completion) or equivalent related to experimental methods in either electro-hydrodynamics or surface science. You will also have experience in experimental development of either: (a) Electro-hydrodynamics techniques and related measurements and in setting up related experiment test rigs, or (b) experience of working with direct writing print technologies, or (c) experiments in surface science relating to surface energy/dynamic wetting of surfaces. Further to this, it is expected that the associate has experience with several computational methods, such as Matlab.

About the School

This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with 70-80 academics and a similar number of postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students.  These are supported by an administrative and technical staff of circa 40. The staff and student body are international in make-up.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, fixed term appointment for 2 years, with an expected start date of January 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 4, £32,087 - £34,733 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
