The Division of Secure and Networked Systems focuses on scalable cloud design, real-time orchestration, and edge-cloud convergence.
The department offers access to world-class research infrastructure, including the LISA 6G testbed and the University’s 5G lab, and maintains strong collaboration with academia and industry.
This postdoctoral position is part of NextG2Com, a Vinnova Competence Center focused on next-generation communication systems integrating wireless communication, networking, software, data, and security.
Research Focus:
Design and implement cloud-native platforms for scalable, low-latency XR/VR offloading in 6G networks
Adapt Kubernetes for heterogeneous and resource-constrained edge/cloud environments
Integrate hardware accelerators (GPU, FPGA) for real-time applications
Validate performance using the LISA 6G testbed
Key Objectives:
Develop latency-aware orchestration strategies for XR/VR task offloading
Build modular, high-performance cloud-edge components
Collaborate with academic and industrial partners to ensure practical applicability
Publish results in high-quality journals and conferences
Conduct research on cloud-native edge-cloud architectures integrated with wireless networks
Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes-based platforms on constrained hardware
Implement orchestration strategies for XR/VR offloading and migration
Validate and document research in testbeds
Possible teaching responsibilities (≤20%) and participation in research training activities
Required:
PhD (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Very good oral and written English
Strong programming skills and hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies
Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and heterogeneous systems
Experience with hardware acceleration (GPU, FPGA)
Experience with Linux environments, distributed systems, and cloud platforms
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
