Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering (Ref.: 517584), to commence on May 1, 2023 as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Transport Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Urban Studies or related fields, with a strong track record in the following: refereed publications in transport, artificial intelligence, operations research, urban studies/planning; advanced skills in transport simulations, machine learning, and optimization; as well as experience in co-authoring and managing competitive research grants. Applicants should also have the ability to manage own academic research and meet defined milestones on time with an understanding of transportation simulations and optimizations.

The appointee will participate in a R&D project related to the development of simulation platforms and artificial-intelligence based algorithms for optimizing operations and management of taxi E-hailing services. The appointee is expected to have strong programming skills (Python, HTML and JavaScript) and good knowledge of optimization approaches and artificial intelligence, especially reinforcement learning models. The appointee is also expected to start new projects once new research funding is secured by the team. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
