Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Generative Computing for Urban Design and Urban Plans in the Faculty of Architecture (Ref. 504118), to commence as soon as possible, for a period of two years.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science or AI with preferably a demonstrated interest in urban science; or a background in Urban Analytics or Geoscience with a proven record of advanced data science, AI, generative computing and advanced optimisation. They should also have a track record in publishing advanced data science research in highly-ranked journals; experience in co-authoring and managing competitive research grants, and developing novel computer/data science research agenda in the context of applied problems, preferably but not necessarily linked to urban science and smart cities.

The appointee will work in an interdisciplinary generative design project that links the Faculty’s iLab and urban science and urban design research groups and report directly to the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Professor Wilson Lu, Director of iLab. He/She will develop his/her own research ideas within the context of an interdisciplinary generative design group to advance the computer science of urban plan and design generation. The group’s objective is to develop a research agenda, software and experiments at the cutting edge of AI-driven planning and urban design. He/She will also develop links to other data science and smart city groups in HKU and international partners.
