The role
The Advanced Water Management Centre and Queensland Urban Utilities is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with the primary fields of anaerobic (preferably UASB) and algae sewage treatment to work on the Industry Lead CRC-P project “Transforming wastewater treatment in regional Australia with robust technology for multiple benefits”. The research fellow will design and lead research programmes into the project and support PhD students at UQ/QUU and partner organisations in delivery of the project. The researcher will also assist with project management including internal and external reporting. Work will be communicated as scientific publications and technical documentation, including for specification for implementation at full scale.

 

The person
The successful applicant will possess a PhD in chemical/environmental engineering or a related discipline. Applicants will have demonstrated experience in conducting experimental work in the field of water management at laboratory-, pilot-, and/or full-scale and have a understanding of water chemistry and wastewater engineering systems. They will be expected to supervise and mentor research students within the research group and to be responsible for carrying out research independently and writing up the work for publication.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in a scientific environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong methodological background, the ability to interpret experimental data, and the capacity to work within multidisciplinary research team.

 

Applicants must also hold a Current Qld ‘C’ Class driver licence or equivelant open international drivers licence.

 

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases or be willing to be vaccinated against said diseases.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for one year (with possible extension) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Research Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range of $84,878 to $90,982 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $99,307.75 to $106,449 p.a.).
