The DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS RESEARCH at University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in the department should an opening arise. Positions may range from 11% to 100% time in a given semester, and they may begin as early as Fall 2018. Applications will be accepted and reviewed for department needs until March 1, 2019. We typically review applications for fall course needs in April and May, and in October and November for spring course needs. Those interested in remaining in the pool beyond this date must reapply.


The department offers BA, BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees in IEOR. The IEOR Department educates students to become highly skilled in: the quantitative modeling and analysis of a broad array of systems-level decision problems concerned with economic efficiency, productivity and quality; the collection of data and analysis of data using database and decision support tools; the comprehensive modeling of uncertainty; the development and creative use of analytical and computational methods for solving these problems; and to obtain the broader skills, background and knowledge necessary to be an effective professional in a rapidly-changing global economy.


Salary is based on college teaching experience and equity within the department. The starting full-time annual salary rate is $60,419 - $150,645.


Basic qualifications: A PhD or equivalent degree in IEOR or related field is required by time of application. Prior teaching experience is required by time of application. The job duties will include: preparing lectures, homework, and exams; teaching courses, evaluating students, and supervising teaching assistants.
