About This Opportunity

We are recruiting to two positions that will be responsible for undertaking research; teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level including course coordination; research higher degree student supervision; and professional activities in the field of data management with a focus on data analytics and data science.

Topics of interest include but not limited to database systems and architectures, information extraction, search and retrieval, machine learning, data mining and recommender systems. Knowledge of emerging research in responsible data management and challenges related to bias and fairness is desirable. Interest in empirical research and/or experience in developing industry-grade data management systems and solutions will be highly regarded.

The appointees will contribute to the University’s new Master of Business Analytics.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful, you will hold a PhD in computer science or similarly related area, partnered with expert knowledge and a solid track record in data management (or related area).

You will also be able to demonstrate teaching skills at both undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and evidence of contribution to research (including a publication record).

Finally, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to establish effective relationships, represent and promote the discipline at a wider community level, and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the development and conduct of joint research projects.

What We Can Offer

We have two. full-time, continuing positions at Academic level B or C available

  • At Academic Level B, the base salary will be in the range $99,542 - $118,206, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be in the range $116,464 - $138,301.
  • At Academic Level C, the base salary will be in the range $121,939 - $140,603, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be in the range $142,668 - $164,505.
