We are looking for

A lecturer in water engineering that will contribute to the MSc program International Land and Water Management (MIL). You will develop courses for our program and teach on several courses. You successfully mix lecture-based and team-based modes of learning, digital learning, field practicals and excursions. 

You will have the following responsibilities, to be further developed based on experience and interest:

  • teaching and further development of the courses ‘Land and Water Engineering’, ‘Irrigation and Water Management’, ‘Water System Design for Water Use from Multiple Sources’ and ‘Water Delivery’;
  • intake of MSc internships
  • supervise BSc and MSc internship and thesis students (2-4 students per year).

We ask

  • a PhD in a relevant field, or a MSc degree with proven experience in teaching
  • knowledge of civil engineering;
  • international and national -field work- experience in water engineering (5-10 years);
  • experience with education & good didactic and communication skills;
  • proficiency in English (and preferably French, Spanish or Portuguese);
  • a great teammate that is able to work in an intercultural environment;
  • experience with design and construction of agricultural water systems, and ability to link these to practices of operation and maintenance and wider societal and policy questions;
  • willingness to travel abroad frequently for education projects;
  • preferably affinity with the Dutch water context and sector.

We offer

A part-time (19 hours/0.5 fte per week to 30.4 hours/0.8 fte per week) appointment as lecturer. You will be offered a temporary five year contract with a go based on an evaluation after one year. Your salary will depend on knowledge and experience. Gross salary per month is from € 2709,- to 4274,- (scale 10) based on full time employment (CLA Dutch Universities).

In addition, we offer:
