The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES) is part of the UQ Faculty of Science and currently has 104 academic staff, and 31 professional and technical staff and over 1,120 equivalent full-time students.

The School’s extensive teaching and research activities span the fields of geology, human and physical geography, environmental science and management, biodiversity conservation, geospatial science and remote sensing, mineral resources, palaeontology, geophysics, occupational health and safety sciences, and urban and regional planning. SEES teaches into a diverse range of programs for undergraduate, honours and postgraduate coursework students, and higher degree by research programs.

The School has a vibrant, multidisciplinary research profile and enjoys consistent success in securing nationally competitive grants, industry funding, publishing numerous papers in high-quality international journals as well as having an important influence in areas related to government policy and industry practice.

About This Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have teaching and research interests in environmental and planning regulation and policy. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in environmental and planning regulation/law and policy, develop a successful research program, and supervise research higher degree students.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, demonstrated experience, and a track record of high quality research. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly productive research and teaching career in the area of environmental and planning regulation and policy. Demonstrated knowledge of Australian environmental and planning regulation and policy is also required.

For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer (Level B) position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor position in the US.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic level B, ideally commencing early February 2020

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $95,771 - $113,728, plus superannuation of up to 17%.

Our Selection Process

Please note that Panel Interviews have been scheduled for the week commencing 18 November 2019 at The University of Queensland's St Lucia campus.

As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a research seminar and mock lecture to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Research seminars and lecture topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates.
