Position Summary:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BHI) at IU Indianapolis invites applications for two Lecturer positions. Exceptional instructors are sought to support the development and delivery of courses in the Biomedical Engineering Program, including classroom instruction, computer labs, and online education.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering
Develop and update curriculum, program goals, and training activities
Contribute to student recruitment, marketing, advising, and evaluation
Engage in scholarly activity and maintain current knowledge in the field
Serve on departmental and school committees, as well as professional committees
Mentorship and support for students’ academic and professional development
Opportunities for Advancement:
Lecturer faculty may be eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer and eventually Professor of Teaching based on school and campus criteria
Qualifications:
Required: Ph.D. or M.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field, or a master’s degree (MS/MPH/MBA) with 10+ years of experience in Biomedical Engineering
Preferred areas of expertise:
Biomedical device engineering and system design
Mobile and wearable health technologies
Imaging technology
Bio-nanotechnology
Engineered tissue or organ design
Regulatory compliance, quality control/testing, and analytics
Department Overview:
11 faculty members, over 300 students
Programs: Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Informatics (BMI), Health Information Management (HIM)
Close collaborations with: Regenstrief Institute, IU Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB), VA Center for Health Information and Communication (CHIC), IU Health, and other IU schools and Purdue Engineering programs
Research focus: Clinical and health informatics, systems interventions, human-computer interaction, mobile technologies, bioinformatics
