About the Position:

The Institute of Biochemistry at Carleton University invites applications from qualified candidates for a preliminary appointment in Biochemistry at the rank of Instructor I beginning July 1, 2020

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent teaching, mentoring, and communication skills and provide inspiring instruction in Biochemistry courses. The top candidate will provide evidence of a) excellence in teaching in all fields of Biochemistry, b) a familiarity with cutting-edge research and techniques in all fields of Biochemistry, and c) strong interpersonal skills and active mentorship of students. The candidate will be responsible for teaching in Biochemistry and will mentor students within the Biochemistry programs. An important role of the successful candidate will be to establish a network of regional researchers in academia, government and industry that will enhance Biochemistry teaching and research at Carleton University.

About the Academic Unit:

The Institute of Biochemistry at Carleton University has research strengths in most areas of biochemistry, cell biology and the molecular life sciences. Our facilities include molecular biology and biochemistry research facilities in both the Departments of Biology and Chemistry, as well as well-equipped teaching laboratories. Carleton researchers within the Institute of Biochemistry have close research interactions with several government agencies, industries and organizations within the National Capital Region.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, or a related field, and postdoctoral or relevant experience in Biochemistry. The candidate should demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduate courses, be able to work effectively with students in small or large groups, and should provide evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment. An important qualification of the successful candidate will be the ability to network with regional researchers in academia, government and industry to establish links with Biochemistry at Carleton University.
