Profile and Experience

  • Experience:
    • Relevant master's degree or doctorate in (applied) economic sciences, commercial engineer, marketing, social sciences, etc.
    • You have an excellent knowledge of and experience with business innovation (business model innovation, strategy, knowledge of business processes or working methods, etc.)
    • You have affinity and knowledge of AI and AI applications. You can link business insights to this and thus translate it into solutions or strategies with business value for companies. Technical insight is a plus.
    • You have practical research competencies and you combine that with a pragmatic view. You have experience in quantitative and / or qualitative research methods.
    • You can identify new projects, realize collaboration and advise companies.
    • Experience with higher education is a plus. You are willing to teach in the courses.
  • Analytical ability: You are successful in recognizing and solving problems. You can analyze a question, make connections and draw logical conclusions.
  • Customer-oriented : you are communicative and can explain innovations to companies or students in understandable and non-technical terms. You also work well with external partners or customers.
  • Enterprising: You are entrepreneurial and have a sense of responsibility.

Content of the Assignment  

For companies, new digital technologies, such as AI, will have more and more influence on product and service offerings, business models and organizational processes and methods. For the 'digital and sustainable entrepreneurship' research team, we are looking for a business researcher with a strong affinity with AI for carrying out practice-oriented research projects on the applications and challenges of AI for companies (SMEs) from a business perspective. You combine business insights with insights about technology, customers or employees, and innovation or change processes to help companies innovate.

Starting from questions and challenges from practice and from scientific knowledge, you participate in exciting research projects with which we want to achieve an impact on practice. You will end up in a dynamic learning and working environment where you will have the opportunity to participate in innovations every day, where you can develop your knowledge and skills and share them with colleagues, students and companies and organizations.

Your Duties:

  • You initiate, lead and do practice-oriented research on the application and integration of AI within companies (SMEs) and social profit organizations from a business perspective. To do this, you work in a team of researchers, partners from the professional field and the Thomas More programs.
  • You participate in a concrete project on the implementation of chatbots for Flemish SMEs
  • You support other researchers with your knowledge of new digital applications and your business expertise.
  • You disseminate results and you translate them into usable applications or strategic advice. You provide assistance in services.
  • You explore the possibilities of grant applications and you prepare project proposals for new research.
  • You are an enthusiastic ambassador of Thomas More and you expand the network of contacts of the research group.
  • You fully contribute to the growth and quality of the research team.
  • You work together with students and teachers from the programs and thus contribute to state-of-the-art education at Thomas More.
