The Faculty of Technical Chemistry, Chemical & Process Engineering and Biotechnology of
Graz University of Technology is seeking to appoint a full professor of


Materials Process Engineering


starting September 1st, 2020. The position is tenured according to Section 98 of the Austrian
University Act (§98 UG).


For this position, we are seeking a highly qualified and scientifically well-established individual
who is committed to represent the field of experimental and/or theoretical fluid separations
engineering both in teaching and in research. Ideally, the expertise of the applicants s h o u l d
comprise basic and applied concepts for the development or optimization of resource-efficient
production of industrially- relevant materials. Examples include food products, polymers and
pharmaceuticals, amongst others. Involvement in the connected interdisciplinary main research
areas of Graz University of Technology (e.g., the Fields of Expertise and the COMET
centers) is expected, as well as t h e interuniversity collaboration within the NAWI Graz
project.


Both fundamental concepts and areas of specialization in the field of fluid separations
engineering should be taught at the Bachelor, Master and PhD level. Teaching of specialized
courses related to research and/or industrial practice would be very welcome. Previous
experience in teaching and willingness to teach and interact with students and to actively
participate in the University affairs are expected.


Applicants must have earned a doctorate (Ph.D.) in the required discipline or in a closely
related field.


Key selection criteria are as follows:
 Excellent scientific skills (as evidenced by a habilitation or independent
scientific achievements, including publications or patents)
 Involvement in international research
 Experience in university-level teaching
 Excellent didactic qualifications
 Leadership qualifications
 Experience in cooperation with companies, research institutions and universities
 Successful experience in the acquisition of third-party funds
 Gender and diversity competencies


The chosen applicant should have a strong command of English, written and spoken, to be
able to effectively represent and communicate the subject matter in an international context
both in the classroom and in the research field. If the candidate does not have sufficient
knowledge of German, he or she must be willing to pursue and acquire the said language
skills.


The chosen applicant is expected to relocate his or her main residence to the Graz area.
