Full Professor of Data Driven Dynamic Optimization and Control

at pay grade W 3 (minimum salary per month: 7,217 euros) to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.

The incumbent will represent his/her subject area in both research and teaching. Applicants should have their research focus in the area of data-driven dynamic optimization and control or a related field. Of particular interest is the development of data-driven algorithms for the dynamic optimization and control of dynamic systems and their mathematical foundations, especially with applications in intelligent robotics and/or battery technology. We are looking for a scholar who is internationally recognized in research in a related mathematical field. Appropriate applications with reference to continuous and discrete mathematics are equally welcome.

The future chair will be expected to complement the research activities of the existing research groups within the Department of Mathematics as well as in the Bavarian AI Network and to participate in interdisciplinary research within the department, across faculties, and in the context of the Bavarian AI Network, especially in the research network "Resource Aware Artificial Intelligence for Future Technologies".

The postholder's responsibilities will include teaching and coordination activities for subject-specific modules in bachelor's and master's programmes in mathematics, computer science, and related fields. Additional components of the position profile are the establishment of an active research group and the expansion of national and international research networking. Experience in the acquisition of external funding, in project management, and in the successful execution of large, interdisciplinary, inter-university and multi-centre externally funded projects or collaborative research projects would also be an asset.

The ability to teach in English and German (if required, after a period of orientation) is expected.

In addition to the general administrative requirements, prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement, for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment, will also be considered.  Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants. Exceptions are possible in urgent cases.
