Your Assignment

  • You are responsible for education and research support in the field of computer science, distributed systems and artificial intelligence.
  • You teach courses at the bachelor and master level in computer science, distributed systems and artificial intelligence, including the corresponding labs. Your teaching assignment amounts to a maximum of 50% of your assignment.
  • You develop your own research projects within the strategic plan of the research group and you compete for externally funded research grants.
  • You support current projects within the IDLab research group and supervise project work, bachelor and master theses.
  • You guide and support doctoral students.

Your Profile

  • You hold (or obtain during the application period) a doctoral thesis in engineering sciences (computer sciences, electronics-ICT), applied engineering sciences (electronics-ICT), computer science or equivalent .
  • You put the right accents in your education that fit within the vision on education of the University of Antwerp. You can provide high-quality academic education with great independence.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the policies of the university . You have knowledge of national and international fundraising and are also capable of working independently in the field of research. You are prepared for a foreign research stay.
  • You can submit excellent study and research results.
  • You are quality-oriented, honest, creative and collaborative. You are strongly team oriented. You work in a team motivating and inspiring. You have vision and you can communicate well, both orally and in writing, in Dutch and in English.
  • You meet the legal language requirements for both the knowledge of the teaching language and of the administrative language, Dutch. The University of Antwerp provides the necessary support for this.
  • You have good oral and written knowledge of English.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence, distributed embedded systems and Internet of Things techniques and applications is a plus.

We Offer

  • an appointment as doctor's assistant for a period of three years, renewable once after positive evaluation;
  • a full-time gross monthly salary that varies from € 4,134.93 to € 6,446.00;

How to Apply

  • Your application must be accompanied by a research plan in English, in which you describe for a period of three years in a maximum of 5 pages how you wish to shape and valorize your research within the strategic plan of IDLab and how you believe you can use research resources acquire.
  • A pre-selection is made on the basis of the submitted applications; the further selection procedure is function-oriented and is determined by the selection committee.
  • Candidates who are admitted to the continuation of the selection procedure after the pre-selection are invited for a selection interview. During the interview, they explain their research plan and research and teaching experience.
