National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, R.O.C., invites applications or
recommendations for the position of Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science (EECS College). The University seeks for a person with vision to
provide academic, intellectual and administrative leadership for the EECS College in its
mission to become one of the world's leading institute for research and teaching in
electrical engineering and computer science. The starting date for the new dean is August
1st, 2022. The term is for three years and renewable for another three.

About NTHU and EECS College

NTHU was established in Beijing in 1911 and re-established at its present location in
Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1956. Since its relocation, NTHU has developed into a comprehensive
university offering a full range of degree programs in science, engineering, humanities,
social sciences, education, arts, and management. NTHU consistently ranks as one of the
premier universities in East Asia and is widely believed as a leading cradle for future

The EECS College was established in 1998. The mission of our college is to foster
high-tech professionals to be available for meeting the trend in national economic
construction and industrial development. We not only expect the college promote the
integration of teaching/research resources and the development of related fields, but also
hope that, in a forward-looking, well planned way, it will evolve its own research focus
and features to fulfill the needs of professionals in a future society. In 2021, it ranks 100
in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and 109 in the field of Computer
Science in the world. The college comprises two Departments (Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science), five Graduate Institutes (Electronics Engineering, Communications
Engineering, Information Systems and Applications, Photonics Technologies and
Information Security), and an interdisciplinary program. Many professors have won
various important academic honors including 1 Academia Sinica Academician, 5 Ministry
of Education National Chair Professorship, 6 Ministry of Education Academic Award, and
64 person-times outstanding research awards from the MOST(Ministry of Science and
Technology), 14 Mr. Wu Dayu Memorial Award from the MOST, 11 IEEE Fellow, 12 Y. Z.
Hsu Science Paper Award, 6 Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding
Scholarship-Young Scholars' Creativity Award, etc. More information about the College

The Dean Position

Recently, the significant growth of IT-related industries has led to a huge demand for IT
professionals. The college will continue to strengthen the following: to integrate the
teaching resources, to cooperate closely with the industry, to prepare students fulfilling
the needs of the industry; moreover, to encourage teachers to actively participate in
international academic cooperation, and to promote the student exchange programs with
prestigious foreign universities and internship with overseas companies to cultivate
students' international vision. The Dean is expected to provide visionary leadership and
formulate strategic plans for the College to pursue excellence in these areas through
collaboration with his/her colleagues and parties concerned to enhance our international
standing.

Requirements

Ph.D. in electrical engineering or computer science, or related discipline aligned with the
programs offered by the College; distinguished national/international reputation for
scholarly accomplishments; full professor or research fellow for at least three years.
