Chair in Systems Engineering

King's College London

United Kingdom

King's College London, one of the top 10 UK universities in the world (QS World University Rankings, 2019) is looking to appoint academics to complement the development of our engineering offering in the heart of our central London campus.

At King's we are building a multimillion pound facility to accommodate world-leading research, innovation and education in engineering, which will maximise our interdisciplinary links and establish valuable new research themes and partnerships. Building on our existing strengths in computer science, robotics, telecommunications and biomedical engineering, our aim is to create a world-class research activity across the engineering disciplines in conjunction with new innovative education programmes.

Recognising the importance of designing, making and optimising advanced engineering systems and in order to achieve our ambition, we are now looking to recruit a Professor with a focus in systems engineering and an interest in designing, understanding and/or modelling the systems that underpin processes, technologies or services to optimise their performance. Possible areas of activity include systems of systems, systems integration, self-adaptive/cyber-physical systems, analysis and modelling of dynamic systems, operations research and engineering management.

Applications are sought from individuals and/or practitioners from industry who will initiate and lead an ambitious research agenda and play a key role in the set-up and development of the new department. Depending on their background, the successful candidate will have a substantial track record in research, education and professional achievement and be expected to make a major contribution to the development of our innovative education model.

It is an exciting time to join King's during this period of ambitious growth, supported by significant university investment.
