Concordia University invites candidates for a new Canada Excellence Research Chair position in Sustainable, Smart and Resilient Aerospace. The Chair's research activities will propose a unique, interdisciplinary approach to sustainable, smart and resilient aerospace research of the future. It will provide solutions to reach the United Nation goals of carbon-neutrality by 2050 by integrating disruptive technologies, such as advanced design, electrification, alternative fuels, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems.

About the Canada Excellence Research Chair Program
Refined and restructured, the new 2022 CERC Program (Application and Nomination Process ( supports Canadian universities in building on Canada's growing reputation as a global leader in research and innovation. The program awards world-renowned researchers and their teams up to CAN$8 million over eight years to establish ambitious research programs at Canadian universities.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications
We are seeking applications from internationally recognized and dynamic candidates with excellent leadership abilities for a diverse team. The appointment will be at the associate or full professor level and requires candidates with a record of creating synergies in a multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary field, academic and industry background, or research experience in government labs.

Applicants must have a PhD in a field relevant to the research area and an established and internationally renowned research profile with evidence of peer-recognized achievement, and the demonstrated ability to attract and mentor excellent graduate students and postdocs.

This Research Chair aims to implement an integrated approach to sustainable design of smart and resilient aerospace systems of the future. As such, the ideal candidate should have a research profile that is multidisciplinary in nature and covers one or several of the following research themes:

• Design of visionary concepts for an air mobility ecosystem that integrate ultra-efficient flying vehicle concepts
• disruptive technologies (i.e., electrification), materials, and processes to enable carbon-neutral, accessible, intelligent, safe, and resilient air mobility systems
• inclusive and sustainable air mobility design and planning
• integrated life cycle assessment and supply chain of air mobility ecosystems
• adoption and institutionalization of advanced air mobility technology in a complex policy and regulatory environment
• smart and sustainable infrastructures

Candidates are encouraged to share any career interruptions or personal circumstances that may have had an impact on their career goals (such as the decision to have a family, eldercare, illness, and so forth) in their letter of application.
