Founded in 1911, Kyushu University is a leading research-oriented institute of higher education in Fukuoka, which is historically renowned as Japan’s gateway to Asia for profound cultural and economic interactions due to its geographical proximity to continental Asia.
The University celebrated its first centennial anniversary in 2011 and is taking bold steps forward into its second century. With an enrollment of nearly 20,000 students and the number of faculty at almost 2,000, it is comprised of 12 undergraduate schools, 18 graduate school, 17 faculties, 5 research institutes, and a hospital, as well as over 50 affiliated research centers. ■About Inamori Frontier Program
This year, Kyushu University will implement the "Inamori Frontier Program" to attract world-class young researchers of exceptional quality. This Program invests in the recruitment and development of outstanding human resources through the Institute for Advanced Study. We seek highly talented young researchers at the frontier of their field (Distinguished Young Fellows), who will develop radically original and ambitious projects as independent principal investigators in any research area, from the humanities and social sciences to the natural sciences.
The Distinguished Young Fellows will be employed with exceptionally high salaries as Associate Professors of the Institute for Advanced Study, and will be offered maximal support, budget, and time to devote themselves completely to research.
