The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in cognitive human factors engineering.
The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027.
Candidates must have earned a PhD in engineering, computer science, psychology, or a related area, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates are expected to sustain and lead innovative, independent research and maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
Evidence of research excellence should be demonstrated by:
Sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked, field-relevant journals
Research statement outlining current and future research interests
Presentations at significant conferences
Awards and accolades
Strong endorsements from referees
Evidence of teaching excellence should be demonstrated through:
Teaching accomplishments
Teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (including required materials)
Strong letters of reference
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, with the upper range exceeding $200,000 CAD per annum. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for compensation beyond these ranges.
