POST OVERVIEW
Noroff University College seeks to appoint new academic staff in the area of Cyber Security. You will join a team of international staff with whom you will be expected to work in very close collaboration, in undertaking research in the area and engaging in the delivery and management of the newly launched Bachelor in Cyber Security. This degree has a shared common first year with the Digital Forensics and Applied Data Science Bachelors degrees within the Faculty. As such, evidence of prior teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential.
Candidates should have a postgraduate qualification (preferably Ph.D) in Computer Science, Computer Security or a related field. The ability to teach a variety of subjects is essential, in particular a range of information security related subjects. Relevant skills and experience in the following areas are required for this post:
In addition to your area of domain expertise, we are looking to appoint someone who is enthusiastic about learning and education in general and is open to innovative models of learning and teaching.
The successful applicant must be willing to take direction from senior academic staff, but also be capable of taking initiative and show self motivation. As a lecturer your role will be developmental towards more senior academic positions. You will be provided with opportunities to lead and develop academic delivery and research, which will allow you to develop a portfolio of experience. As a lecturer your key roles within Teaching and Learning include: -
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research), recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties of the program, Faculty and/or institutional level, and make some contribution to their profession appropriate for their career stage. It is acknowledged that not all applicants will have had working experience in a Higher Education institution and that not all applicants will have had similar opportunities to teach, supervise and undertake research. An applicant’s background and opportunities to demonstrate their merit will be taken into consideration by selection committees. It is further acknowledged that academics follow different trajectories in their careers. In considering academics for employment, the totality of what an applicant can contribute to NUC will be assessed bearing in mind minimum requirements for certain levels of post. Excellent spoken and written communication skills, with an ability to engage audiences, are essential for this post. While Teaching and Assessment are conducted in English, candidates with fluency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language would be at an advantage.
Evidence of recent peer reviewed publications and active research projects in your field (or sufficient evidence of potential) would be a distinct advantage, as Noroff University College wishes to continue to grow both in terms of volume and quality of research. Evidence is required for appointments at the higher end of the salary scale.
The successful applicant must be willing to take direction from senior academic staff, but also be capable of taking initiative and show self motivation.
Compensation to commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
We interview continuously and suitable candidates are encouraged to send their application to us. Closing date for this application is 31 May 2020 and shortlisted candidates will be contacted thereafter.
