The position is hosted by the Emerging Communication Systems (ECoS) group at the Department of Information Technology. The group investigates the intersection of:
Wireless communications
Distributed systems
Machine learning
Low-power design
Security
Research focuses on enabling future distributed communication systems that are energy-efficient, robust, and secure. The group publishes in leading international journals and conferences and collaborates globally, with funding from Swedish and European research agencies.
Computer Communication concerns protocols, software, and hardware for data exchange.
Within this area, distributed systems focus on protocols and methods for collaboration toward common goals.
Key research themes include:
Performance and resource efficiency
Security and dependability
Synchronization and data consistency
Applications range from cloud services over wide-area networks to constrained wireless IoT systems with collaborating sensors.
The position includes teaching, research, and administration, with responsibilities such as:
Teaching and course responsibility in computer communication and distributed systems
Supervision of Master’s and PhD students
Following developments within the subject area and societal relevance
Establishing and leading an independent research group
Defining and planning research activities
Applying for and securing external research funding
Supervising doctoral students
Departmental administrative duties
Applicants must have:
A PhD in Computer Systems or a closely related field
Demonstrated research expertise and teaching expertise relevant to the position
Completed teacher training equivalent to 10 weeks, or willingness to complete it within two years if special circumstances apply
Documented ability to teach in Swedish or English
Personal capabilities necessary to carry out the full duties of the appointment
