Assistant/Associate Professorships in Manufacturing

We wish to appoint one University Assistant Professor, and two University Assistant or Associate Professors to develop a record of world-class research related to emerging trends in manufacturing commensurate with the Department's long-standing international reputation in this area. The roles will require a balance of teaching, research and administrative duties. For teaching, responsibilities will include full participation in the design and delivery of undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising student projects (including team-based industrial placements), examining, and supervising post-graduate research students. These roles will be based at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) in West Cambridge.

The outline scope of each position is as follows:

Post 1: University Assistant Professor in Industrial Sustainability The field of this post is in the general area of understanding and addressing the strategic and operational needs of industry in successfully transforming the production of materials and physical goods to more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable approaches.

Post 2: University Assistant / Associate Professor in Industrial Scale-up The field of this post is in the general area of understanding and addressing the system needs of industry in scaling-up new materials and technologies from lab to application in a broad range of application domains.

Post 3: University Assistant / Associate Professor in Automation Systems The field of this post is in the general area of understanding and addressing the needs of industry in responding to rapid changes in robotics, industrial automation technologies and application domains.

In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a small supplement to the salary range stated for these roles for a five-year period.
