Job Summary

The Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) invites applications for a full-time Teaching Faculty position for the Engineering Partnership Program (EPP) at Colorado Mesa University (CMU).

This position is based at CMU in Grand Junction, Colorado, and is anticipated to start in August 2026.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Undergraduate engineering courses, which may include:

    • Circuits and electronics for mechanical engineers

    • Data analysis (statistics) and experimental methods

    • Senior design/capstone courses

    • Engineering electives aligned with program needs and applicant’s expertise

  • Three upper-division undergraduate engineering courses per semester

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serving on EPP committees

  • Evaluation activities for program accreditation

  • Student mentoring and advising

  • Outreach and recruiting

  • Professional development

  • Fostering and maintaining relationships with industry

The position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank, with qualified candidates considered at the Associate Teaching Professor rank.

Engineering Partnership Program (EPP):
Since 2008, CU Boulder has offered accredited bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering at CMU through EPP. Students spend the first two years at CMU and the remainder taught by CU Boulder faculty based on-site. Program highlights include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach three courses per semester

  • Provide service to EPP through:

    • Committee work

    • Fostering relationships with industry

  • Typical work distribution: 80% teaching, 20% leadership/service

  • Offer includes a multi-year contract, renewable depending on start date

Compensation and Benefits

  • Assistant Teaching Professor: $80,000 - $90,000 per academic year

  • Associate Teaching Professor: $80,000 - $105,000 per academic year

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline; OR

  • Master’s degree in engineering with six years of industry or undergraduate teaching experience

  • For Associate Teaching Professor rank: minimum of six years’ higher education teaching experience and meeting unit criteria


Desired Qualifications

  • Strong connections to industry

  • Ability to teach both mechanical and electrical engineering courses

  • Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering within an industry setting

  • Professional engineering license
