Assistant/Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering

University of Cambridge

United Kingdom

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor in Digital Electronics and VLSI Design. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Department's Electrical Engineering Division to develop and deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Digital electronics underpins modern life, enabling consumer electronics, communication systems, image processing systems, industrial automation systems and automotive systems to name just a few examples. The ubiquity of digital electronics means that it is essential for engineering students to be educated in this field. VLSI design is a more specialist skill, but one which a significant proportion of students who are intending to become electronic engineers require.

We are seeking an individual to develop and deliver teaching material in digital electronics and VLSI design specifically. The ability to teach in other areas within the field of electrical and electronic engineering would be advantageous. It is anticipated that the majority of teaching will be at undergraduate level, although some teaching at postgraduate level is also expected, including the possibility of assisting with the development of a new course at Master's level. Applicants are be expected to have been educated to PhD level or have related equivalent experience. A strong technical knowledge in electronic engineering and specifically in digital electronics, VLSI design and hardware description languages is essential as well as a proven track record of teaching delivery and the design of teaching materials at undergraduate level. A high level of spoken and written communication skills is also expected.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for four years in the first instance.
