Overview

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) at CU Boulder invites applications for a Teaching Professor in Architectural and Civil Engineering at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor rank. This non-tenure-track position emphasizes high-quality instruction, inclusive pedagogy, and student engagement across undergraduate and graduate curricula.

Candidates with industry experience and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure are encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities

  • Teach core and elective courses in architectural and civil engineering, including first-year seminars, senior capstone, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems

  • Develop and implement hands-on, experiential, and project-based learning modules

  • Engage in curriculum development, online/hybrid teaching, and integration of professional practice

  • Mentor and advise undergraduate students, fostering inclusion and diverse career pathways

  • Participate in departmental service and leadership (20% of duties)


Qualifications

Assistant Teaching Professor:

  • Ph.D. in architectural or civil engineering (or closely related field) OR Master’s with ≥5 years relevant professional experience

Associate Teaching Professor:

  • Minimum 6 years of teaching experience at higher education level

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and leadership

Additional Requirements:

  • Commitment to inclusive and evidence-based teaching

  • Ability to connect engineering fundamentals to real-world applications

  • Enthusiasm for collaboration and a collegial departmental culture

Preferred:

  • Industry experience

  • Professional licensure (PE)


Compensation & Benefits

  • Assistant Teaching Professor: $95,000 – $105,000 (academic year)

  • Associate Teaching Professor: $105,000 – $118,000

  • Relocation stipend available
