The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) at CU Boulder invites applications for a Teaching Professor in Architectural and Civil Engineering at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor rank. This non-tenure-track position emphasizes high-quality instruction, inclusive pedagogy, and student engagement across undergraduate and graduate curricula.
Candidates with industry experience and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure are encouraged to apply.
Teach core and elective courses in architectural and civil engineering, including first-year seminars, senior capstone, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems
Develop and implement hands-on, experiential, and project-based learning modules
Engage in curriculum development, online/hybrid teaching, and integration of professional practice
Mentor and advise undergraduate students, fostering inclusion and diverse career pathways
Participate in departmental service and leadership (20% of duties)
Assistant Teaching Professor:
Ph.D. in architectural or civil engineering (or closely related field) OR Master’s with ≥5 years relevant professional experience
Associate Teaching Professor:
Minimum 6 years of teaching experience at higher education level
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and leadership
Additional Requirements:

Ability to connect engineering fundamentals to real-world applications
Enthusiasm for collaboration and a collegial departmental culture
Preferred:

Professional licensure (PE)
Assistant Teaching Professor: $95,000 – $105,000 (academic year)
Associate Teaching Professor: $105,000 – $118,000
