This position is a scientific research position in the Advanced Pulmonary Physiomic Imaging Laboratory. The position will: (i) perform basic and applied research in medical image and signal processing, with considerable scope and complexity in which existing theory or methods are limited or lacking, with responsibility for identifying and selecting the problems to be studies, the approach to them and the results obtained. Develop and implement methods of processing and analyzing computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) images in pulmonary diseases; (ii) work through all phases of algorithm development and performance analysis such as novel quantitative CT-based metrics that characterize heterogeneity of pulmonary parenchymal perfusion and pulmonary vascular distension; (iii) develop new hardware and methods to improve quality and repeatability of pulmonary imaging systems; and (iv) participate in subject scanning, paper writing, progress report submissions, and all other aspects of a complete research study


Requires: Ph.D. in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or related field;

Six Months postdoctoral training in Pulmonary Physiology, Medical Imaging, or Related Field;

Graduate research experience in Image Processing and Signal Processing;

Demonstrated strong analytical and data analysis skills;

Rapid prototyping skills for hardware development;

Hands-on coding skills in Java or C/C++;

Excellent written and verbal skills.
